EL PAPA Francisco VISITA A NUESTRO MEXICO

AMOR-RESPETO-AMISTAD

Politics and our Media

A Letter to the Editor

POLITICS AND OUR MEDIA
RUBIO AND CRUZ-ARTICULATE, FIGHTERS AND 1ST GENERATION USA CITIZENS. They are NOT the type to ACCEPT any patronizing media overtures as other minorities did in the 2008 Presidential Race.   They are not falling to the "minority factor"..  add to this, their sense of independence and that no political pundit is feeling anything crawling up their leg…as these two HOMBRES OF CUBANO ROOTS battle it out  for the highest political office in USA and the Free World..whatever is left of it!

THE MEDIA HAS SHOWN its TRUE COLORS-WHITE AND BLACK!  ALL viewers by now should have noticed the absence of Latino/Hispanic/Brown-face/Mexican-Americans/Cubano or even Anglos who are well versed in the Hispanic and Cuban Culture from whence these TWO HOMBRES come from.

HIPOCRACY AND BIAS is alive and well in an arena where most of the workforce seems to evaluate, criticize and make side-bar remarks about what is going on or not going on in the world of ETHNIC ROOTS AND POLITICA!  The management of the National Media and Cable news has already expressed their jovial sensitivity to a variety of life-styles and social and biological preferences and they are OK with their present personnel pedigree. Largely missing from this encompassing group is the presence of more than two colors which appear to be mostly white and black.  SO WHERE IS THE OUTCRY from THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY whose roots can be traced to 21 different Spanish Speaking Countries and more importantly the USA?  NO!  You don't have to be a Republican to see the inequity, but it should be obvious that there is something definitely wrong with this picture-which at the moment seems to be "White and Black."  The Political Race for Hispanics is too important to leave it up to Journalist Gorge Ramos!

GOOGLE PHRASES OF CULTURAL INSENSITIVITY IN 2008 TO FULLY APPRECIATE THE ABOVE OPINION:

I MUST ALSO ADD THAT EVERYONE OF THESE FOLKS WHO SPOKE FROM THE HEART AND MIND WHEN CRITICIZED OR WERE ASKED FOR CLARIFICATION….THEY LATER ADDED THAT THEIR COMMENTS WERE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT…HMMM,  How convenient!

AMIGOS….The HEART AND MINDS never express things out of context!

WE NEED TO READ, HEAR AND SEE IN OUR MEDIA PEOPLE WHO ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE USA COMMUNITY!

OPINION

Only a small % of people write letters to their respective newspapers.  There are pros and cons and once people commit to expressing their opinion, they have to some extent define themselves.  Our 1st Amendment Rights continue to separate US from the rest of the world.

Thank You

Letter to Oregon Heritage Commission

Privately created and owned

Feb. 1, 2016
TO:  Oregon Heritage Commission
Subject:  Demographic representation in the OH Commission and
related functions/committees

As of 2015:  White 62%, Black 12%, Hispanic 18%, Asian 6%, American Indian/Alaska Native 1%, Two or more races 2%
According to the Keizer Family Foundation the above data represents our demographics in the United States.  In 2010 in Oregon Schools 1 out of 5 students was Hispanic; it is with certainty that the population has grown substantially in the last five years.  This growth was precipitated by the fact that about one third of the US was populated by indigenous Mexicans (once their land); my distant ancestors were part of this population.   Add to this factor, the natural migration and immigration (of all sorts) that have been steady for over 150 years.

Given the trend of demographics nationally and in our state, it is prudent for the Commission and the State Leadership who are entrusted with the responsibility of planning, guiding, implementing and evaluating grants/programs/activities in the area of "Culture and Heritage"… to insure that your OUTREACH AND INCLUSION PROGRAM is comprehensive and measureable in all facets that encompass - "The Oregon Heritage."  I addressed the Commission on this issue two years ago when you met at the Albany Regional Museum (this should be on record).

Inclusion- I would greatly appreciate it if you could inquire on my behalf what progress has been made in the areas of "Inclusion at all levels."  It is incumbent on your role as Commissioners of the State of Oregon to make "Inclusion" a high priority.   A report of this effort would be greatly appreciated.

(cc) The organizations below will be apprise of my efforts and will be invited to engage in the conversation of "Inclusion in OH"

Thank you! I wish you a productive and pleasant meeting.  Please include this letter as part of the record-Public Input (in your minutes).  I am also available to assist in matters related to "Inclusion."  My contact information is included.
